Glossary ======== The glossary includes descriptions of product names, functionality, and abbreviations used throughout the EON-XR User Guide. .. glossary:: **Activity** A learning assignment, media content, or task created for the Xperiences. For example, *Audio*, *Quiz*, *Video*, *Identify component*, and *3D Recording*. **Annotation** Information attached to specific object components or object parts. **AR** Augmented reality (AR). Use a mobile device to experience the object(s) in your physical environment. **Assessment** Evaluation and self-evaluation of user learning performance through Xperiences activities and performance scorecards. * Assessment Portal: Collection of learning activities, accessible in **AR mode**. * 3D Recording: audiovisual animation created for the 3D object. Including interactions with object parts, movement, and voice recording. * 3D Assessment: an assessment activity where you test your ability to follow the steps demonstrated in the 3D Recording. **Asset** The object file selected to create Xperiences: * 3D Assets: Objects displayed in 3D view * 360 Assets: Objects or images with 360° viewing angle * Sketchfab: A third-party 3D model repository * Import 3D Assets: 3D objects imported to EON-XR by the user **Asset grade** All assets are graded and partitioned into three groups (green, yellow, red), based on their complexity (low to high), and how they perform in a 3D experience: * Low / Green assets are great to use in EON Metaverse Builder, in Xperiences with multiple objects * Medium / Yellow assets are OK in situations with a single object lesson * High / Red assets should be reviewed before use **Geolocated Xperience** A geolocated Xperience includes 3D objects and annotations memorized in physical locations in the real world. Geolocated Xperiences are created using persistent anchors in EON Metaverse Builder. With persistent anchors, authors can connect objects and annotations to positions in the physical world. Users can then load these objects in the connected physical location. Terms related to **Geolocated Xperience**: * **Persistent objects** : Object anchored to a physical location. The persistent object memorizes its position and orientation. When a new AR session starts, this information is used to place the object. * **Persistent annotations** : An annotation anchored to a physical location. The persistent annotation memorizes its position, without requiring a 3D object. * **Geolocated experience** : An experience created in the EON Metaverse Builder which contains persistent objects. **HMD** A head-mounted VR device (HMD) is used to view Xperiences in **VR mode**, such as Meta Quest2 and HTC Vive. For information on HMD setup, refer to :doc:`/HMD/hmdSetup`. **Institute** An entity on the EON-XR created for a certain organization, educational institute or enterprise customer. By default, the XR Library is displayed. **Knowledge portal** A collection of media content related to an annotation, accessible in **AR mode**. **Lesson** Obsolete term. Replaced with :term:`Xperience`. **LMS** Learning Management System (LMS). A software application used for administration and distribution of educational courses, materials, or learning programs. **MR** Mixed reality (MR). The combination of VR and AR creates an immersive VR experience using an HMD device, where you can see through the HMD into your physical environment. **MVB** The **EON Metaverse Builder** product. The EON Metaverse Builder (MVB) is used for composing multiple 3D objects together in AR, with knowledge portals and assessment portals. **Occlusion** The occlusion setting enables segmentation of physical objects which improves the illusion that the virtual objects exist in the real-world. With occlusion, the device scans your physical environment and allows objects to occlude the virtual objects you place in this environment. For example, if you place your virtual object underneath a table and look down on the virtual object from the top of the table, then you cannot see the virtual object. **Object** A 3D object or 3D model displayed in an EON-XR Xperience. **SERP** Search Engine Results Page (SERP) is used for sending search queries and retrieving results when creating Knowledge Portals. **VR** Virtual reality (VR). Use an HMD device to experience the object(s) in a virtual environment. Alternatively, use a **mobile VR headset** paired with your smartphone to explore 3D Xperiences in 360-degree view. (**Touch mode** only) **XR** eXtended Reality (XR) is a catchall term for technologies that enhance or replace our view of the world. **Xperience** A collection of media content, annotations, and learning activities based around 3D objects or 360 scenes. **360 scene** A 360° captured object or image used in 360 Xperiences, creating an immersive environment.
